The twice a year Cottonwood Art Festival, featuring works from the nation's top visual artists. 2012 marked Cottonwood Art Festival’s 43rd year. The prestigious show is rated the fifth best art festival in the United States, and is the premier fine arts event in North Texas.
Cottonwood Arts Festival Richardson’s bi-annual Cottonwood Art Festival, is a juried show. Jurors have selected more than 240 of the nation’s top visual artists from 1,400 submissions to exhibit their museum-quality work at the festival. The artists compete in 14 categories: 2D Mixed Media, 3D Mixed Media, Ceramics, Digital, Drawings/Pastels, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metalwork, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Wood.
PR Assignment
TrizCom’s contract with the City of Richardson was a combination of traditional and nontraditional public relations with a strong emphasis on media relations and event promotion for the Fall Cottonwood Art Festival 2012.

Admission
Parking and admission to the Cottonwood Art Festival was free of charge. Some children’s events required a fee. The artist’s works and food were available for purchase.
Highlights
Cottonwood Art Festival was a juried show.
Each of the artists attended in person to discuss their work. Meeting the artists and learning about their work are two important things that make Cottonwood Art Festival a truly special event.
Cottonwood’s beautiful courtyard/café area borders Cottonwood Lake, the perfect stop to enjoy food, spirits and live music.

Children’s Activities:
Crazy Cool Caps – Let the kids show off their pint-sized personalities by creating their own over-the-top hat! There will be plenty of glitter, feathers, pompons, ribbon and foam shapes for all to use!
Throwin' Mud – It's ok for the kids to play in the mud at this activity station with Masta Potta, Mr. Kirby!
Canvas Classics – Be an artist by painting your very own canvas painting.
Wax Hands - give creativity a hand and capture your "sign language" in colorful wax.
Origami Art–Children will love this classic Japanese paper folding art. A number of options will be available.
The Big Picture – Kids can leave their mark on Cottonwood Art Festival by painting a piece on the Monster Mural!
Other ArtStop activities include Chalk Board Easels (for young children), Chisel Away (kids chisel on a large block of plaster) and Magnetic pieces (make a picture by adding magnets to large magnetic boards).
Fall 2012 Featured Artist
Cottonwood Art Festival’s 2012 Fall featured artist is Denise Greenwood Loveless of Irving, Texas. Greenwood Loveless’ art explores the frailty and imperfection of the human condition – the lines where light and dark converge. She was one of the festival’s 16 featured artists and will be representing the sculpture medium.
